Dog Walker Killed By Stampeding Cattle

23 June 2009

While I was away for a few days there was news of a woman killed by stampeding cattle while walking her dogs.

Following not long after David Blunkett's lucky escape, this brings it home even more that, while you generally have the right under the Scottish Outdoor Access Code to enter a field of cattle with a dog in Scotland, that doesn't mean it's a good idea.

Sometimes you don't have much choice. The main path around Loch Ore can have cows wandering on it and walkers are positively encouraged there.

But if there is a choice ...

If you do decide to go into a field with cattle, take heed of the advice on entering fields with farm animals in the Code.
