The Famous Alva Highland Games Are Coming!
It's only just over two weeks until the 153rd Famous Alva Games happen in ... you guessed it, Alva.
So make a date for July 11th and be there - you won't be disappointed!
The photo at the top is one of the few snaps we took at the games last year.
A hammer is about to be thrown and surely that's the Alva caber, which even SGA World Heavyweight champion Bruce Robb failed to turn, lying in the foreground.
On the horizon between the trees on the left you can make out the Wallace Monument, just outside Stirling.
So never mind that the Stirling games have been cancelled this year - come to Alva instead. You can see how close it is!
The weather could have been better last year.
If it is no more summery this year I'm sure many of the competitors won't mind.
My hill running days are long gone, if they ever existed, but if I could do it, I wouldn't fancy doing the hill run in the weather we've been having here in the last couple of days.
(There's a good bus service to Alva from Stirling and Alloa if you don't have transport - or even if you do.)
