Our Walks Now Link To Interactive Ordnance Survey Maps
All our walks now link to interactive Ordnance Survey maps on Multimap where you can zoom in and out of, and move around, the best possible map of the area.
From there you can quickly and easily,
get detailed driving directions to the start of the walk from anywhere in the country;
zoom into and move around fantastic aerial images of the area (where available - essentially from the edge of the Ochil Hills southwards);
view a road map of the area.
See an example showing Gartmorn Dam visitor centre with an information box where you can click to get directions.
A second example shows the location of Clackmannan Tower with no information box. You can click the red circle to get one.
To zoom in on an image of the tower, click Aerial and use the slider at the top right of the satellite image. You can move the red circle out of the way by right clicking somewhere on the image and clicking on "Place red circle here".
Some Things To Note
The maps normally display quite quickly but sometimes one will seem to get stuck before it appears. Doing a refresh or trying again will generally sort this out.
The satellite images can be a few years old and sometimes things will have changed since they were taken, especially as new roads, housing developments, supermarkets, and even a railway line have been constructed recently in Clackmannanshire.
The recently opened station in Alloa is the nearest to and most convenient for most of the walks but, at the time of writing, Multimap does not have that in its database.
When new roads are built it can take a while for Multimap to get up to date. For example, at the time of writing it doesn't show the Clackmannanshire Bridge and associated road across the Forth at Kincardine, which is much quicker for getting into Clackmannanshire than using the old "South Approach Road" Kincardine bridge that it does show.
